Majesty palm is a common household plant, and the best thing about the plant is that it is a slow grower, which means it can easily grow in your home without taking up too much space. So, if you are also interested in growing a Majesty Palm inside your home, use this guide to learn everything about Majesty Palm care and growth.

Basic Care and Maintenance of a Majesty Palm

If you are getting a Majesty Palm, then you need to adhere to the following Majesty Palm care instructions to ensure that your plant thrives for a long time.

  • Light

The first thing that you need to keep in mind is that Majesty Palms need a lot of light, which means that you need to keep it near a window that receives a lot of sunlight. You need to ensure that the plant gets around 6-8 hours of light every day.

  • Water

Another thing that you need to ensure is that the soil of your Majesty palm plant does not dry; this means that you need to ensure that the soil remains moist. This plant comes from a place where it receives constant water. You need to get a pot that has drainage holes with water that can escape from the pot, as this ensures that the root should not rot. If you see the fronds of the palm drying or yellowing, you should provide it with enough water.

  • Repotting

Majesty Palms really need some room to stretch out. Don’t let them get cramped; repot every couple of years. You don’t need a huge new home for it either; just go up about two inches in pot size each time. And here’s an easy way to know when it’s time: if you spot roots poking out of the top of the soil, that’s your cue.

  • Pruning

Pruning is simple. Snip off any fronds once they turn yellow or brown. Not only does that keep your palm looking its best, but it also gives new fronds the space to grow.

  • Watch out for pests

Keep an eye out for pests, especially spider mites. Regular fertilizing helps, but humidity is really your friend here. Try misting the leaves with water now and then, and wipe the undersides with a damp cloth. This goes a long way toward keeping spider mites in check.
